Answer:

To borrow materials from Williams Libraries, you must belong to at least one of several groups described on our Borrowing page

Use the library catalog to find or request books from our collections. You can locate materials in the stacks and bring them to the circulation desk to be checked out using your Williams or community borrower ID; or if you request an item, it will be retrieved for you, checked out, and put on the hold shelves for you to retrieve at your convenience. If you have trouble finding anything, ask a librarian for help!

To return most materials, hand them in at the circulation desk at either Sawyer Library or Schow Science Library, or, for materials that are not equipment, put them in the book drops located outside the doors of either library. For members of the Williams community with swipe card access, you can use the book drop in the Sawyer main lobby right outside the entrance gate, or the Schow book drop outside the doors to the library.

There is also a book drop on the north side of the building (along Mission Park Drive). Follow the signs for the Loading Dock. The book drop is located in an alcove in the building to the left of the loading dock entrance.

To return equipment such as laptops, chargers, or audio/visual equipment, hand the equipment directly to someone at the circulation desk of either library. These materials cannot be returned using the book drops.
